About Our Journey to Living a Simple Life
Hi there! We’re Charlene and Nate (Nathanael), the creators of Journey Down The Road. Our journey has mostly been filled with travel, before and after we married. We both did missions work for YWAM (Youth With A Mission~ pronounced “WHY-wham”), a global Christian-based organization. And that’s how we met and were married in Kona, Hawaii!
In 2020, we bought our very first home in an attempt to “settle” down a bit after many years of traveling and living abroad in various countries. Yet, with our minimalist mindset and financially free motto, we ended up with a TINY (744 sq ft) fixer upper cottage!
If you are fixing up a fixer upper or considering tackling similar projects, we hope that you can draw some courage and inspiration here to also build your very own HANDMADE home! We have been learning to DIY most things using salvaged and reclaimed (old) wood from our house and others in the area. Our Little Pine Cottage is getting a new life and a lot of love.
