Taking a Trip to the Round Top Texas Antiques Fair
Taking a trip to the Round Top Texas Antiques Fair was a very unique experience that you have to try for yourself!

B&B FARMHOUSE IN ROUND TOP TEXAS
We found out about this cute little B&B from a lady we bought antique chandeliers from. It was on a farm and so close to all the antique fair vendors. There were a ton of beautiful cows to greet us when we pulled up to the farmhouse. Later we’d run into the chickens, a donkey, and of course farm dogs.

The old farmhouse has three bedrooms upstairs. We booked the red room. It was the smallest of the three with a queen sized bed. But, it came with this cute little vanity area which came in handy for putting on makeup and having extra room for all your stuff, snacks, or whatever. It was a simple and small space, but all we needed for our stay.
There was also a common lounge area with a coffee and tea bar along with seating and tv area. When you come up the stairs it’s the first area you reach. We enjoyed some time here in the evenings watching movies and sharing some snacks. It was a cozy place to retreat to after a long day of antique shopping.
I was able to take a sneak peek of the blue and green rooms before those guests arrived. They were a bit larger and nicely decorated. All of the rooms were simple yet cozy. The shared bathroom also worked out just fine with the other guests and we had no issues with that.
One of the highlights of course was the homemade breakfast. And meeting others who came to check out the antique fair. It was a fun way to get the scoop on all the happenings. We were new to this event, but the ladies we met were regulars and gave us lots of pointers.

ROUND TOP ANTIQUES FAIR VENDORS
We kept hearing great things about the Blue Hills venue and decided to start there first. And it was the closest to our B&B. It was a huge venue with a ton of vendors. One tip is to get there as early as possible to get a good parking spot and to check out the vendors before it gets too crowded.
There was such a variety of vendors to check out. Some had antique items that were American or European and even Asian. Other vendors displayed more modern items. Some spots were more fancier than others. And later on we checked out some that were set up in tents and had a more of a swap meet vibe.

We’ve done a lot of antique shopping in our local area and it seemed like the vendors here were a bit more expensive.
We heard from some locals and frequent visitors that the prices have been going up over the years. With the popularity of this event and number of people it draws twice a year, it seems they can charge more premium prices.
There was even a linen vendor that caught our attention as we’ve really been into natural fiber clothing for many years. They had so many products to choose from.

OUR EXPERIENCE AT THE ROUND TOP ANTIQUES FAIR
Are you overwhelmed yet hearing about all the vendors and items from the fair? We had expectations that it would be huge, but it really blew our minds. You really need to come for a few days to pace yourself and figure out your plan. It was really helpful to get tips from our B&B host as well as the other guests. There are also many YouTube videos out there and blogs about the experience.

We went last October and it was so hot! That’s Texas for you! So, we stopped in the Lone Star Glamp Inn to cool down with some cold beverages. If you go this month in March the weather will hopefully be better for you.
HOW WE SPENT OUR DAYS AT THE ROUND TOP ANTIQUES FAIR
The first day we just browsed around various vendors to get our feet wet. By the end, we were so whipped! To save a bit of money we had a lovely little dinner in the HEB parking lot with some warm Asian dishes complete with noodles or rice, veggies, chicken or beef, and egg rolls. It was really good and hit the spot after a full day of walking and sweating in the hot weather.
We ended up spending about two full days checking out the antique vendors. On the second day we quickly drove to as many spots as we could and walked through them. Even rushing through didn’t allow the time needed to really see everything.

By the end of day two we were exhausted, but had such a great time! If you have been thinking about checking out the Round Top Antiques Fair, but not sure about it, I’d say, just give it a go. I think it’s worth the road trip and experience.
Our final morning at breakfast was so lovely. We got to chat with our host and new guests arriving. People in Texas are wonderful! And we had such an amazing breakfast, everything homemade and eggs from the chickens on the farm.

Before we headed back home on day three, we pulled in to check out the main venue – the Big Red Barn. However, there was an admission fee so we didn’t end up staying. Plus, we were already so exhausted. I looked online and it’s $25 for VIP early shopping and $10 for general admission.

After making one last stop in the Round Top downtown area, we headed home. What a fabulous experience. I highly recommend you make a visit. Especially if you are into antiques like we are!
